Spring Awakening is a rock musical adaptation of Frank Wedekind’s 1892 German play. Featuring alternative rock/folk music by Duncan Sheik and book/lyrics by Steven Sater, Spring Awakening tells the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of sexuality for the first time. Spring Awakening received eleven 2007 Tony Award nominations, winning eight, including Tonys for best musical, direction, book, score and featured actor. Although the cultural landscape has changed quite a bit since Wedekind wrote the original Spring Awakening in the late 1800′s, the enduring themes are still as topical as ever. Produced in the spring of 2012 at the Theatre of Arts in Hollywood, the Los Angeles intimate premiere of Spring Awakening had 24 sold out shows, including original Spring Awakening audience members and the writer, Steven Sater himself. Over the Moon was also happy to pair up with The Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide-prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth. Ten percent of all proceeds were given to Trevor in the hopes of creating a more open minded community.
