Over the Moon Productions is a theatre production company based in New York and Los Angeles. Led by artistic director Kate Sullivan, Over the Moon was founded in 2010 and presented its sold-out first show, Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical RENT, in May 2011 in an abandoned warehouse in downtown Los Angeles. This spring Over the Moon produced L.A.'s premiere of the rock musical adaptation of Frank Wedekind's play Spring Awakening, which enjoyed a critically-acclaimed, sold-out run from March - April of 2012 at the Theatre of Arts in Hollywood. Over the Moon's mission is to develop and produce visionary theatre -both original and celebrated musicals and plays- to enrich, educate, and entertain a diverse audience. Our ultimate goal is to foster more conscious and compassionate communities through truly innovative theatre.
Kate Sullivan is the Founding Artistic Director of Over the Moon Productions. After graduating with a degree in journalism from from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Kate promptly moved to Los Angeles where she worked on children’s fantasy film, The Spiderwick Chronicles, hit indie film (500) Days of Summer and the breakout comedy Bridesmaids. In 2011, Kate founded Over the Moon Productions with Jonathan Larson’s Tony-award winning RENT staged in a warehouse in Downtown Los Angeles. Kate’s other directing credits include the Los Angeles premiere of Spring Awakening and a New York reading of We are the Tigers by Rebekah M. Allen. Kate is the 2014 recipient of the Epstein Directing Fellowship at New York Stage and Film’s Powerhouse Theater at Vassar College. Kate currently resides in Brooklyn.
Tamara Hunter is a casting director and producer based in Los Angeles. She was first inspired by the transformative powers of theatre as a kid, when she witnessed her mother take a group of troubled youth and create an exceptional production of The Wiz – on a serious shoestring budget. A graduate of UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film and Television, she was immediately attracted to the collaborative and creative side of casting – while maintaining a sharp and keen sense of the business of putting a successful and dynamic cast together. Yet it was a fateful meeting with Kate at Cafe 101 over pancakes (and bacon) that truly re-ignited her energy and love for musical theatre. In addition to Rent: Downtown LA, she has also worked with Kate on Spring Awakening in 2012. Outside of Over the Moon Productions, Tamara also works full time with Sarah Finn. Her most recent projects include The Avengers, Savages and the upcoming film Iron Man 3.
Jason Stamey was born and bred in North Carolina and landed his first performing role when he was 18 years old. Jason went on to spend the better half of a decade performing in theme parks, cabarets, musicals, on cruise ships and then eventually hit the stage in Over the Moon’s RENT: Downtown LA. Jason then hopped on board again to assistant direct Spring Awakening which turned out to be an incredibly rewarding and fantastic experience.
When Jason isn’t swept up in an Over the Moon production, he is an Associate at the Sarah Finn Company casting features such as Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy & Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Jon Favreau’s Chef, and upcoming films like Shane Black’s The Nice Guys, Marvel’s Ant-Man and Avengers: Age of Ultron!
